Name: Dale Wilkins

Where do you live?  Old Swinford

How do you know PA? I was his Housemaster for his final year at OSH.

What would you like to say?

PA will be very sadly missed by all his many friends at OSH, and especially those in Foley House. It is no surprise to see that he had kept in touch with many of his contemporaries - they were a very close and a very special group, and he was clearly much loved by them all. His entry in the House leavers ' book points out that he was the last of his year group to leave - 10th July 1993 - having stayed late, of course, to play some sport. Sally and I are very sorry that PA is no longer with us, and particularly sorry that we did not make the journey to see him before he died. Our memories of an exceptional young man will remain, kept alive in our hearts, and in those of everyone who knew him.    Our love and best wishes to all his many friends and family.  Dale Sally Lucy and Alex Wilkins

PA I will miss you deeply.   Your enthusiasm for life was infectious. I remember our times in the gym and how I couldn't meet your expectations. But I will try my friend - I will try my best to live life to the full and get as much out of it as possible, which was very much your way.
Reading these tributes its clear how loved you were by some many people, you have touched some many people lives and you have certainly touched mine. I will not forget you my friend and I shall remember the many good times we shared and focus on those.  mikey

What would you like to say?

PA you were one of those people who bring a zest to life. One of the finest and bravest rugby players I have met or seen. I have particular memories of the tours to Canada. Remember Ottawa?! I am looking at the pith helmet the team autographed for me and remembering what an influential part of that tour you were. Both myself and Ruth were devastated on learning about your horrendous accident, however you were one person I would have backed to be able to come to terms with it and have a fulfilling life.  PA it was a pleasure to have met you. You will not be forgotten. Our sincere condolences to your family. Dave & Ruth Ellis

How do you know PA? Good friend & fellow team-mate at Keynsham RFC.
Doctor who prescribed anything PA wanted in order to get a free meal !!

What would you like to say?

I'm unable to find enough words to sum up your amazing life-where do I start?. You managed to do more and affect more people's lives in 26 years than the majority do in a life-time. You certainly worked on a different time-table to us mere mortals-managing to achieve goals even when bigger obstacles were being put in front of you.
I experienced many happy times with you - who can forget the regular rendition of "Delilah" by Tom Jones on the rugby coach. Also the many fancy dress outfits, especially the all-over body gold spray, gold wig and gold shorts! Also the many hours spent in All Bar One and Poo Na Na's in Bathtalking about nothing in particular.
I'm glad you were able to see the love of your family, girlfriend and friends which I know gave you great strength.
Congratulations Rob and Gerry in bringing up such a gentleman and a character - we will never forget. I feel privileged to have met you and experienced your presence. May you take your own special brand of commitment, positive attitude and humour onto your new life where we will meet you in the future - until then we'll miss you loads.

What would you like to say?

PA touched so many lives in many different ways and its fascinating reading about the way everybody remembers PA.  My fondest memories of PA will of course be on the sports field but also in the dormitory at school, using his bedside lamp as a microphone, singing with great passion along to his Bruce Willis tapes. Everything PA did was full of passion and enthusiasm and he will be sadly missed by all. I feel so honored to have known him. My deepest sympathies and thoughts are with his family at their time of such a tragic loss. My thoughts are with you always. Rob.

Where do you live? Windsor        How do you know PA? Friend from school (OSH)

What would you like to say?

It was awful to hear the tragic news about PA's terrible accident before Christmas. I wanted to visit him with some old friends but unfortunately the visit was cancelled due to circumstances on the day. I didn't manage to make a trip since, I wish I had.  I always remember PA as a friend from school who was so full of life, loved a challenge and always gave his best. I had the pleasure of growing up with PA and living with the man for 7 formative years of his life. In living with someone for 7 years you really get to know them and it's great to know that he had the same effect on people's lives after leaving school as he did while I knew him. I, like many of the lads who loved sports, had great fun playing/competing with him in many sports and I admit, for a peer he really inspired me to compete longer, harder and to strive for something better. It was a moving moment over this Christmas to be browsing old photos with my family and find a picture of PA at aged 11 struggling up a steep road with a huge backpack on his back during a school holiday we shared in the Yorkshire Dales. It epitemised PA even at that young age, striving to overcome the challenges that stood in front of him. I will always remember PA - the boy, the man and the friend with great respect.     Best wishes to your family PA, you will be missed! Pete (aka Sweed)

Where do you live?  Bath        How do you know PA? Friend from Bath

What would you like to say?

P.A, Hello lovely!  That's the way you always greeted me and it never ceased to make me feel warm and welcome and remind me of your kind, generous and open nature.
We've all shared some great times together and you have proved a loyal and trusted friend to Ali and myself. There aren't many people you can persuade to carry a new heavy kitchen table 1/2 mile down the road because Ali was too tight to hire a van!!
P.A, you have been one of the lucky ones in life. The love that has obviously surrounded you throughout your years from your mum, dad, brother and other friends and relatives is quite overwhelming. However we all know that you have been easy to love.
Somehow you have managed to fit into your short life what most people don't achieve in a lifetime. Your zest for living will always be an inspiration.
Thank you for being my friend. It has been an honour. I'm really going to miss you mate and I'm still not quite sure what Ali is going to do without you. However, if there is something that you have taught us all, it is that even in the face of adversity it is still possible to be strong and to remain kind, patient and positive.
Your life has not been in vain - you have helped and will go on helping others more than you'll ever know. Cheers lovely!

Where do you live? Bath

How do you know PA? I am the Physio at Keynsham Rugby Club and a friend.

What would you like to say?

I have slightly different memories of P.A to everyone else! Although I share many of their thoughts. I think I've probally treated P.A for almost every injury known to mankind!!! He was always on the phone wanting me to look at the next injury, he was always late for his appointments and he'd always come flying through the door, flash that winning smile at me and say 'I'm not too late am I?' knowing he was at least 25 minutes late, then proceed to tell me about 3 or 4 'new' aches and pains he wanted me to look at in the remaining 5 minutes!!! But you could never be angry or annoyed with him because that was P.A, trying to fit in a weeks work and activities in 1 day.
I had the misfortune of being the physio at both matches that P.A got injured in. After each accident my grey hairs doubled and I always blamed him for them! Now I'll have to look at them and think of them as memories of him!!!!
I've just got back from a skiing trip in France where I was with Kerry, Kate, Ali and Kate Kerr, all very dear friends of PA's when we heard the tragic news. At 3 O'clock on the Sunday morning Kate, Kerry and I were sat on the piste looking up at the stars thinking about what we had just been told and thinking about P.A, when out the corner of our eyes we all saw a falling star. We just sat there in silence for a few minutes not quite believing what we had just seen. P.A was a star, a dear friend and an inspiration to us all and I'll miss him dearly and I'll certainly never forget him!!!!

Dear PA, Knowing you has enriched mine and so many peoples' lives. You have been an inspiration of how to live life to the full and I'm honoured to have been a small part of that very special life.
You've given me some fantastic memories - when I think of the times we've spent working together I laugh and cry at the same time - your smile, your jokes, your INCREDIBLE eating habits...you're the only person I've known who could eat a prawn cocktail sandwich at 8 o'clock in the morning!  Thanks for being a great colleague and friend - I'll miss you.
My thoughts and prays also go to your amazing family - Rob, Gerri and Steve please remember...there isn't much that I can say or do but if you need a friend I'm here.

Where do you live? Coleford Glos.      How do you know PA? Helen's Mum and Dad

What would you like to say?

We got to know P.A. after Steve started going out with Helen. We shall always remember their wedding and PA's part in it.    He was best-man and he achieved the near impossible - he got Steve to the church on time! We thought then "this guy is special".    To stand in front of 120 guests and give the best-man's speech off the cuff (his prepared speech was left in his broken down car) is daunting for anyone, let alone a 22 year old lad. But he got up, he did it and he did it brilliantly.
Meeting in the following years at different family gatherings he was always polite, easy to talk to, in short a very nice, likeable young man.  After hearing the devastating news of his untimely death I found Richard in the kitchen crying into the washing up. All he said was "I am so glad to have known him."  That’s all we really wanted to say, "P.A. we are so glad to have met you. Thanks for the memories." All our love, Heidi and Richard.

What would you like to say?

PA has played an important role in my life, for it was he who drove me to the hospital to give birth to my daughter Lauren.  I remember going in to him at 5.00am, he was so excited and out the door warming up the car in no time. He always told me to tell Lauren that it was 'uncle' PA that had done that special job, he was so pleased with the role he had played in her birth.  I believe that Lauren's was the first nappy he had ever changed although he said it was one of the worst experiences of his life!   Everyone has great memories of PA, always on the go, always with the next adventure in mind, never a moment wasted.  I also remember that he was good at everything sports, college and cooking. Nothing was too hard, everything excited him and he always wanted to do more.  You will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved you. Lauren will always know who got her mum to the hospital. Thanks PA.

Where do you live? Bath

How do you know PA? Friend at UWIC, too briefly reacquainted last year in Bath

What would you like to say?

PA, I don't really know what to say. I was so shocked to hear the awful news on Monday. I checked the site on Saturday and everything seemed so positive. I left a message saying I'd be down soon, and now I won't get the chance. Sorry PA.
I was describing PA to a friend last week and I explained that I didn't know a single person who knew PA that had a bad word to say about him. As I was saying this I realised that I never heard PA saying anything bad about anyone else. And how many of us can claim that. He was a true gentleman and a wonderful credit to his family. I hadn't seen PA in about three years when I saw him one night in Bath, but we took up where we left off. I still can't bring myself to delete his old phone number from my phone.
Reading everyone’s tributes to PA has made me cry for the first time in a long time. I will be at the funeral on Wednesday and I know that PA will be looking down at us. I hope he forgives me for not making that trip. You were a very special person PA, but while you are remembered, while you are in the hearts of your loved ones, you are never really gone.  Only the good die young. Bless you pal, Bubbs x

PA was a: bright; lovely; lively; courteous young man. I am very sad that he should have died so young and missed much of the fun and adventure of life.    However he used the time he had in such a way that those around him could hardly fail to like, admire and love him.  His mother Gerri and father Rob (my brother) did a wonderful job helping him to grow up into the wonderful guy he was. They and his brother Stephen, along with his friends did an amazing job supporting him through the trauma of his accident and have generated the wonderful foundation to act as a living memorial to PA.

He was an example to everyone who ever faces a problem in life. None of them can ever be so dramatic as the one he faced , and face up to it he did, on his own inimitable style. His Mum was absolutely right to christen him P.A. Those two letters will always mean Positive Attitude after meeting him. We can only guess how you must all be feeling. We are all so sorry it should have turned out this way, but we must all remember the good times we had in his company and remember how much he enjoyed everything he did.             Not sure really what to say. We all know what an incredible guy he was. I had only known PA for about a year and a half but in that time he became a true friend. There were many memorable times with PA from late nights in his garage getting his car ready for a race that weekend, the trip to the Autosport show in 2001 were we got hooked on Circuit Racing....walking around the show after a very long conversation with Martin Smith 750MC quietly chanting...CIRCUIT RACE...CIRCUIT RACE! Phone calls from his mobile phone for hours chatting about everything and anything, and the none stop "go for it" attitude, his big grin and him saying "COME ON" when he was excited!  I will cherish the memories and especially the visit to PA on Christmas Eve for ever.  Our heart felt sympathies go out to Rob, Gerri, Steve and Kerry and all the family.  We'll miss you PA. What would you like to say?

Dear 'Big Felly', I have never known, or will probably never meet, another person as unique as you. You were always the one who was laughing, joking, friendly, mannerly and most of all, really lovely to anyone that you ever met. Loads of my friends who I introduced you to always asked about you and I won't lie when I said that they all thought you were top bloke. Words can't say how much I will miss you PA and I know you will be in Heaven, looking down on everyone and no doubt having a good giggle at me trying to run the 1/2 Marathon. It's funny but I was doing hill runs the other night on the hill we used to do them in the summer and I could hear you egging me on and pushing me up that hill. You'll always be in my thoughts and I loved you as a good mate does. If I can bring just half the happiness that you have brought into peoples lives then I'll be doing awfae well mate.
Love Scottie, x
