We are very thrilled and grateful to our friend Kenny who has taken on the challenge to cycle the length of Ireland to raise important funds to help Trust PA in memory of PA. Kenny plays for the Keynsham Rugby Vets and rides his mountain bike with Bristol Freeride. The task is set to take place between Friday 2nd & Saturday 11th September 2011.

This is a gruelling feat to undertake, travelling approximately 500miles from Mizen Head County Cork in the south to Ireland's most northerly point in County Donegal. The web information states that this is a scenic route but looking on Google maps one just starts to appreciate the scale of this task with all manner of terraine.

The route will take in many national parks and forests plus hopfully many interesting sights and locations such as the famous Giant's Causeway.

The trip will start from home in Keynsham, everyone travelling by van which will act as the backup to accommodate all equipment, tents, food, spares and bikes. The party will route to Ireland via the Pembroke to Rosslare car ferry and onward to the start at Mizen Head County Cork. As the full party will include nine riders, two vehicles will be used including 2 drivers who will accompany the party throughout as support/backup. Other riders with Kenny will include; Andy & Claire Hudson, Sean Nash, Tim Davies, Bill Heenan, Andy & Jon Walker and Tim Long.

The party hope to arrive on Friday 9th (the last day riding) to enable them to catch the opening England World Cup game against Argentina on Saturday, while expecting to recuperate helped by a drop of the good stuff!

Everyone at Trust PA wishes the team a safe and successful journey.

We hope that all our friends & supporters will please generaously dig deep to make this task 100% successful.  Trust PA is raising funds to help make repair available to improve the lives of spinal cord injured & paralysed men, women & children.

PROGRESS REPORTS

Being the remote side of Ireland mobile network cover is a bit limited.

Day 2.

Route is Killarney National Park to Corofin just passed Ennis distance 90 miles including the ferry crossing.                 Kenny & the guys.

Day 3.

Route Corofin to Cong just north of Galway another 85 mile streatch so now ahead on planned progress mileage by approx 20miles. It has rained all day so too wet for tenting, alternative has been dry overnight stays in Hostel accommodation. Message again tomorrow with updates, cheers Kenny.

Day 4.

Another progressive day Cong to Ballina a 75 mile cycle trip thankfully with the wind to our backs (thank you God!). We are all enjoying Ireland as this is a lovely country to cycle through. The scenery is just wonderful and it really makes the ride worthwhile as we pass from one vista to another along the way. Text again tomorrow, cheers Kenny.

Day 5.

Ballina to Donegal another 80 miles - unfortunately it rained all day.  Last night we had a real Irish knees up so will probably pay for it today but hay the good news, the sun is out and there is no wind for our final day's ride! Cheers Kenny.
